30th Celebration: The Hisuian Zoroark Deck at a Glance

The anniversary set 30th Celebration brings a deck that puts every Pokémon at the same number: 50 HP. Hisuian Zoroark places damage counters until only 50 are left, no matter how big the opponent is. After that, a small attack is enough.

The card: Hisuian Zoroark 123/128

  • Stage 1, evolves from Hisuian Zorua (122/128), 120 HP, Colorless type
  • Kratzer (Scratch) for one Energy: 30 damage
  • Wirbelnder Groll for three Colorless Energy: “Put damage counters on your opponent's Active Pokémon until its remaining HP is 50.”
  • Illustration: Kamome Shirahama

Wirbelnder Groll doesn't deal classic damage, it places counters. A Mega ex with 330 HP sits at 50 afterwards, just like a small Basic Pokémon.

How the cards work together

The plan has two steps: Hisuian Zoroark drops the Active Pokémon to 50 HP, a second attacker cleans it up. The partners for that:

  • Mega Starmie ex (Perfect Order 021/088, 330 HP): “Wasserschwall” costs just one Water Energy, deals 120 damage and an extra 50 to one of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. Against a Pokémon with 50 HP that is plenty.
  • Mega Froslass ex (Ascended Heroes 047/217, 310 HP): “Missgünstiger Refrain” for one Water Energy deals 50 damage for each card in your opponent's hand. A single card in hand is enough for the last 50 HP.
  • Zünd-Energie (White Flare 086/086): Attached to an Evolution Pokémon it provides three Colorless Energy at once and is discarded at the end of the turn. That lets Hisuian Zoroark attack with Wirbelnder Groll right away, no setup needed.
  • Mew ex (30th Celebration 066/128): The Ability “Gedächtnishelix” uses the attacks of any one Pokémon on your own Bench, but the required Energy has to be attached to Mew ex.
Mega Starmie ex 021/088 from Perfect Order
Mega Starmie ex: 120 damage for one Water Energy.
Zünd-Energie 086/086 from White Flare
Zünd-Energie gets Hisuian Zoroark ready to attack immediately.

One risk: both Mega ex give up three Prize cards when Knocked Out. Hisuian Zoroark itself gives up only one.

Draw and search

  • Dudunsparce (Prismatic Evolutions 080/131): “Angsthasenabzug” draws 3 cards once per turn, then Dudunsparce and all attached cards are shuffled back into the deck.
  • Meowth ex (Perfect Order 062/088): “Fang aus der Not” searches your deck for any Supporter card when you play it onto your Bench.
  • Team Rockets Fabrik (Ascended Heroes 203/217): Whoever plays a Supporter with “Team Rocket” in its name draws 2 cards. The deck runs two Team Rockets Lambda for that.
Mega Froslass ex 047/217 from Ascended Heroes
Mega Froslass ex: 50 damage per card in your opponent's hand.

Is the deck worth it?

Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark are regular cards from 30th Celebration, so they are cheap. The price comes from the two Mega ex lines and the Trainer cards from current sets. If you open 30th Celebration, you'll have the core together quickly. At pokelix you can get the Japanese 30th Celebration Display (M6a).
