30th Celebration: The Mew ex Box Deck at a Glance
From 30th Celebration comes a deck that has almost every attack in the game. Mew ex sits in front and uses the attacks of the Pokémon on your Bench. The Bench is full of specialists, from Mega Kangaskhan ex to Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex. In deckbuilding slang that is exactly what “box” means: a toolbox from which you pick the right attack each turn.
The card: Mew ex 066/128

- Basic Pokémon, Psychic type, 160 HP, no Retreat Cost
- Gedächtnishelix (Ability): Mew ex can use the attacks of any Pokémon on your Bench. The Energy for that attack has to be attached to Mew ex.
- Blitz-Teleportation for one Psychic Energy: 30 damage, then Mew ex may switch with a Benched Pokémon.
The real trick: Mew ex only gives up two Prize cards when Knocked Out. When it uses Mega Kangaskhan ex's attack, you get that damage without risking the three Prize cards of a Mega Pokémon ex.
Which attacks Mew ex borrows
- Mega Kangaskhan ex (Mega Evolution 104/132, 300 HP): “Schnellfeuerkombo” for three Colorless Energy deals 200 damage. You flip a coin until you get tails, and every heads adds 50. The Ability “Besorgung machen” draws 2 cards while Mega Kangaskhan ex is Active.
- Lillie's Clefairy ex (Ascended Heroes 076/217): “Vollmondrondo” deals 20 damage plus 20 for every Pokémon on both Benches. The Ability “Feenzone” makes Psychic the Weakness of every opposing Dragon Pokémon.
- Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex (Tera): “Sintflutpumpe” deals 100 damage. If you shuffle 3 attached Energy back into your deck, it also hits a Benched Pokémon for 120.
- Fezandipiti ex (Ascended Heroes 142/217): “Grausamer Pfeil” for three Colorless Energy puts 100 damage on any opposing Pokémon. “Umdichten” draws 3 cards if one of your Pokémon was Knocked Out during your opponent's last turn.
- Unown (30th Celebration 072/128): “Geheimnisvolles Signal” deals 40 damage. If that Knocks Out the target, you take one more Prize card.
- Koraidon ex (Tera): “Einschlag” deals 200, “Orichalkum-Fänge” 50 plus 120 if one of your Pokémon was Knocked Out by damage from an attack during your opponent's last turn. Mega Kangaskhan ex is weak to Fighting.
- Iron Crown ex: “Zwillings-Shotel” puts 50 damage on each of two opposing Pokémon. Jirachi ex: “Wunschgewährer” draws until you have 7 cards in hand.

The three Energy types in the deck, Psychic, Water and Fighting, cover exactly these attacks. Everything else costs Colorless Energy.
Why eight Pokémon fit on the Bench
The Stadium card Höhlensystem Null allows up to 8 Benched Pokémon as long as you have a Tera Pokémon in play. In this deck those are Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex and Koraidon ex. With eight Pokémon on your own Bench, Vollmondrondo already deals 180 damage before the opponent's Bench is counted. And Mew ex has more attacks to choose from.

If the card leaves play, both Benches shrink back to 5. That is why Chien-Pao is in the deck: when you play it from your hand onto your Bench, you may discard a Stadium in play. That lets you deliberately discard Pokémon you no longer need.
How the Energy gets onto Mew ex
- Telepathische Psycho-Energie (Perfect Order 088/088): when you attach it from your hand to a Psychic Pokémon, you put up to 2 Basic Psychic Pokémon from your deck onto your Bench. One turn fills the Bench with Lillie's Clefairy ex, Latias ex or Unown.
- Wunderpflaster (Phantasmal Flames): attaches a Basic Psychic Energy from your discard pile to a Psychic Pokémon on your Bench.
- Matt (Stellar Crown): searches for up to 2 Basic Energy of different types, one goes to your hand, the other is attached directly to a Pokémon.
- Latias ex (Surging Sparks): with “Luftlinie” your Basic Pokémon have no Retreat Cost. Mega Kangaskhan ex and Mew ex switch freely.
- Meowth ex (Perfect Order): “Fang aus der Not” searches your deck for any Supporter.

One risk: Mega Kangaskhan ex gives up three Prize cards, the other ex Pokémon two each. That is why Mew ex should do the attacking while Mega Kangaskhan ex only draws cards.

Four differences from the source: Feenzone does not double the damage, it makes Psychic the Weakness of opposing Dragon Pokémon. Vollmondrondo deals 180 instead of 160 damage with eight Pokémon on your own Bench. Sintflutpumpe only hits the Bench if you shuffle 3 attached Energy back into your deck. Matt finds at most 2 Basic Energy. In each case the card's wording is used here.
