Aura Seeker: Mega Absol Z ex Locks Stadiums

Since 23 October 2026 the official page for Aura Seeker (M7) shows another Z Mega Evolution: Mega Absol Z ex. The special part is in the top left corner of the card. Mega Absol Z ex is a Basic Pokémon, so it goes straight into play without evolving. The set launches in Japan on 27 November 2026.

Mega Absol Z ex 030/078, Japanese card.
  • Basic Pokémon, 270 HP, Psychic type, rarity RR
  • Attack for two Psychic and one Colorless Energy: 160 damage. During your opponent's next turn, they can't attach Special Energy from their hand and can't play a Stadium.
  • Weakness Darkness x2, Resistance Fighting -30, Retreat 1
  • Mega Evolution ex rule: if it is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prize cards.

The English attack names are not known yet, the card only exists in Japanese so far.

Why is the lock strong?

Many decks need Special Energy or a specific Stadium to get going. Mega Absol Z ex takes both away from your opponent for a turn, with every attack. Because it is a Basic Pokémon, it can already attack on your second turn once the Energy is in place.

The setup helper: Meloetta 032/078

Meloetta 032/078 fills the Bench.
  • Basic Pokémon, 90 HP, Psychic type
  • For one Colorless Energy: search your deck for up to 3 Basic Pokémon and put them onto your Bench.
  • For one Psychic and one Colorless Energy: 30 damage, your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Confused.

Meloetta pulls Mega Absol Z ex straight from the deck. As the third card for this strategy, the official page shows Sigilyph ex 031/078. Its Ability protects it from damage done by attacks from Mega Evolution Pokémon ex. We already covered that card in September.

What does this mean for collectors?

Aura Seeker (M7) booster pack, Japan
The official Aura Seeker booster: 5 cards, 200 yen.

The card shown is the RR version. Whether and how Mega Absol Z ex comes as AR, SR or SAR is not known yet. Absol is popular with collectors, a special art version is likely to be in demand. A booster costs 200 yen in Japan for 5 cards. The Western version Flowing Fists is expected to follow in February 2027.
