The cards

Each deck contains its Mega Pokémon ex twice as a holo card, with an alternate illustration:

  • Mega Feraligatr ex 003/038: Its attack does 400 damage in total if your opponent's Active Pokémon already has damage counters on it.
  • Mega Gengar ex 014/038
  • Mega Dragonite ex 022/038

On top of that there are holo versions of the earlier stages: Totodile and Croconaw, Dratini and Dragonair, and Gastly and Haunter. All three decks also contain a Hyper Ball. All other cards are reprints from earlier expansions.

The 2023 predecessor

The last Special Deck Set with Venusaur ex, Charizard ex and Blastoise ex released on 10 November 2023 and contained hidden full-art cards of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. There are no signs of such hidden cards in the new set so far.

Who is the set for?

With three ready-made decks and a playmat, two players can start right away, and The Pokémon Company explicitly promotes the set for newcomers. For collectors, the three Mega Pokémon ex with alternate illustrations are what counts.
