Mew ex & Mega Starmie ex: the 30th Celebration deck
Mew ex from the special set 30th Celebration has the ability Memory Helix. With it, Mew ex uses the attacks of any Pokémon on your bench, as long as you have the Energy required for that attack. That makes it an attacker that fits into almost any deck. PokéZentrum published a list that pairs Mew ex with Mega Starmie ex and Mega Froslass ex.
Why Mew ex is the engine
Mew ex does not need an attack of its own. Once enough Energy is attached, it attacks with whatever is on your bench, which includes the attacks of Mega Starmie ex and Mega Froslass ex. On top of that come two advantages that make the difference: Mew ex has no retreat cost and gives up only two Prize cards when it is knocked out. A Mega Pokémon ex in the same slot would give up three.
Mega Starmie ex clears the bench
The attack Wasserschwall (Water Surge on the German card) costs a single Water Energy, deals 120 damage and puts an extra 50 damage on one Pokémon on your opponent's bench. Most Basic Pokémon sit between 50 and 80 HP, so you can pick off support Pokémon early, before they evolve.
The second attack Nebelstrahl (Mist Beam) deals 210 damage, unaffected by Weakness, Resistance or any effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon. Combined with Spark Energy you can attack immediately.
Mega Froslass ex punishes full hands
Spiteful Chorus deals 50 damage for each card in your opponent's hand. At six cards in hand that is 300 damage, enough to knock out plenty of Pokémon ex on the spot.
One detail ties the list together: Budew uses its free attack Itchy Pollen to stop your opponent from playing Item cards during their next turn. That does not just disrupt their setup, it also keeps their hand full, and a full hand is exactly what Mega Froslass ex punishes.
The support package
- Meowth ex from Perfect Order searches your deck for any Supporter card with its ability, for example Salvatore or Boss's Orders.
- Salvatore speeds up your setup and brings Mega Starmie ex and Mega Froslass ex into play faster.
- Surfstrand (Surf Beach) lets you switch your Active Water Pokémon with a Water Pokémon on your bench for free, so you move freely between the three attackers.
- Legacy Energy makes your opponent take one fewer Prize card, once, when they knock out one of your Mega Pokémon ex.

The collector note
The card sources are worth noting: only Mew ex comes from 30th Celebration, the rest comes from Perfect Order and Ascended Heroes. Building this deck means buying from three sets. Mega Starmie ex also exists as a Special Illustration Rare under number 118/088, and Mew ex under 152/128.
